When the Mirror Questioned me?

Updated: Sep 10, 2019

After achieving excellence in academics and completing my doctorate, I somehow managed to content myself by being a homemaker. Motherhood was a blessing and I was loving it but somewhere within I was not a happy soul. The smiles were all fake and superfluous. The purposeless life invoked anger and frustration and somewhere I had lost myself and my sense of being.

It was September 2016, when my son questioned me why do I write Dr. Gazal Goyal when I am not doing anything? He might have asked that question unknowingly or out of his plain curiosity but after that, I was not at peace. The question haunted me every time I took a single breath. What am I doing?  Why I am letting go my education waste? Why I am losing out on my purpose of life?

A realization hit me, my sense of being was invoked and I realized TIME never waits for anyone. I decided to do something in life before it is too late. I wanted to add meaning and purpose to my life and find an answer to all the questions that hindered my growth as a human being and as a woman especially.

Finally, it all began in October when I started my Journey as an Entrepreneur and these last eight months have been amazing in terms of learning as I got the opportunity to meet and talk to a lot of people, interact with them and listen to many international speakers in my recently concluded Business Conference in Malaysia.

What I learned in this short journey is that we all desire and cherish to live a life full of abundance and prosperity but seldom we question ourselves from where does it come from? It only comes from within and nowhere else. If we are not at peace, nothing is going to make us happy and live life the way it should be lived.

We all have the capability and potential to pursue our dreams and attain a life of bliss and harmony, but what stops us from moving ahead and achieve our dreams are very important questions, for which answers must be sought out. Do we really ponder and try to find out the WHYs in our LIFE?

  1. Why I feel stuck in my life?

  2. Why I am wasting my life, time and energy?

  3. Why I am not able to achieve my goals?

  4. Why I am not living a peaceful life?

  5. Why I am not able to follow my passion?

  6. Why I am not successful?

  7. Why I am not able to find the purpose of my life?

The only thing that stops us from reaching our goals and dreams are our limits. It’s when we meet our limits we feel resistance and things we want seem harder to achieve. Whether it is fear, doubt, physical abilities or some other mental block, it can present a huge barrier to getting what we want. And many things seem impossible to us, when in fact they are not.

We all live in an eluding and imaginary world thinking that nothing is going to happen to us without realizing that we all are living at the edge and anything can happen to us in a fraction of a second. Large chunks of life are spent doing the same thing over and over, which makes it seem like nothing will ever change. And yet it does. Sense lies in anticipating change and trying to give it the desired direction so that we can flow with it rather than get left behind.

Once we accept the reality of impermanence, we begin to appreciate the time we have on hand. We start building, loving and focusing on ourselves and start spending time with those who add meaning to us and our lives, indulge in activities that make us feel useful, do things that we wish to do.

If we know our time on earth is limited, we must make the most of it. Consider, if you are alive for a purpose, what would that purpose be? Focus on your inner self, you will find your purpose there. When we realize our purpose of life, we tend to live a life full of contentment and compassion. But there is a Journey to this.

The law of cause and effect states that if you put out good thoughts accompanied by good actions, you will receive good things. If you think of going beyond your limits combined with your hard work, you will achieve the higher purpose. Everything in life that is worth requires something:

  1. Sense of urgency

  2. Effective management of relationships

  3. Getting out of your comfort zone

  4. Overcoming adversity

  5. Mentoring

  6. Being a missionary in life

  7. Change management

  8. Emptying your cup

  9. Power of belief

There is a big world full of possibilities and probabilities.
