Why Entrepreneurship

Updated: Sep 10, 2019

The whole nation celebrated the 71st Independence Day with great fun and fare. It was a moment of great pride and glory for all the Indians. But for me, it was a day of great revelation and rejuvenation.

On this Auspicious day when the whole Nation was in the Festive mood, I happened to attend the session titled Enlighten and Enrich. The sole purpose was to ignite our minds with the true meaning of Freedom and how Entrepreneurship can bring Financial and Personal freedom in our lives.

Freedom does not have only physical attributes to it. Freedom comes from within; it is mental, spiritual and thought provoking. The freedom to think what one wants to think, the freedom to do what one wants to do and the freedom to live the way one wants to live but without hurting and disrupting others. The real essence of freedom lies in liberation; liberation from all kind of negativity; the negativity that stops us from growing and moving ahead in life towards achieving our desired aims and goals. Freedom does not come so easily. It is gained only through a lot of hard work and a zest for great courage and grit to overcome all the toils and tribulations.

Life is not a bed of roses. It has its own hidden meanings and agendas which is very difficult to decipher by the common mind. When I started my entrepreneurial journey a year back, it was a big decision in my life. The journey from a homemaker to a global entrepreneur required a lot of contemplation and conviction. It was a period of great transformation and transition in my life.

I realized that to achieve my big dreams, I need to step out of my comfort zone. I need to do something in my life before it is too late. As my founder always says, we all live just two minutes from the Abyss. A sense of urgency crept in and I decided to take reins of my life in my hand and took the step ahead.  I never wanted to die as nobody but to be known as somebody who lived and enjoyed life.

Entrepreneurship is a journey. It is a way of life. It is an amazing path chosen for higher deeds and higher goods and comes with a greater degree of sacrifice and selflessness. It is the mission of life which needs to be accomplished through compassion and cohesion. It pays rich dividends both monetarily and spiritually when followed with a right mindset and right attitude. Entrepreneurship is not an easy cakewalk. It is built on the pedestals of high self esteem and self belief.

The fruits of entrepreneurship are borne in when sown with the seeds of three Ds:

  1. Discipline

  2. Dedication

  3. Determination

What I learned and imbibed from him was that nothing is impossible if you decide it to make it possible. If you decide to change and work for that change, results are bound to follow. Change is only possible when only you make it happen. Everything happens for a reason but we must believe in that reason. Life is simple but we make it complex. The biggest truth of life is complexity kills creativity. And to create beauty in everything, we must keep the thinking simple. Entrepreneurship does not mean only achieving one’s cherished goals or dreams but also guiding others to achieve theirs.

What is your intent behind the purpose of life, matters the most. An entrepreneur is a giver, not a taker.

With this article, I want to share the profound message that he shared with us as to how to be a successful entrepreneur and certain skills that we must acquire to be successful on this journey:

Valuing time is the foremost thing to follow. Time is money and each second of life is precious. We must create a sense of urgency within us to achieve what we desire to achieve. A consistent, continuous & coherent process is a must for igniting the fire within every day for daily rejuvenation.

Change is not an option but a necessity. Change is the most essential ingredient of our life and one needs it the most to survive otherwise life becomes redundant. One needs to not only embrace the change but also seek it. We need to change before we become irrelevant.

Emptying the cup every day is an utmost necessity in an entrepreneurship journey. An entrepreneur needs to consistently evolve, learn, unlearn and relearn. It enables the individual to stay humble and grow as a true human being. Success comes after a lot of disappointments, rejections, and failures and to handle that amazing success, one must stay grounded.

Comfort Zone is the biggest enemy. It does not let us evolve and grow. It is a false sense of security that we all aspire in our life. But once withdrawn, it leaves us nowhere. We must be out of our comfort zone if we want to make any headway in our life. Comfort Zone suffocates the creativity inside.

Leadership skills are acquired and developed when faced with unforeseen challenges and circumstances. The ability to lead comes only when the sole desire is to outdo the adversary both from outside and within. Facing adversity is the most important facet of success and surviving that adversity is the most important powerful trait of any leader.

The Sense of Purpose is the primary motive that guides on this enduring journey of entrepreneurship. It is the purpose behind the journey that adds meaning to it and uplifts our soul to follow this journey at any cost. Whatever hurdles may come during the course of the journey, the journey has to be continued fearlessly and fiercely.

In entrepreneurship, mentoring occupies a primary place as the mentor fosters a strong belief in you and your capabilities and guides you and coaches you when you falter and then elevates you to the heights of glory and success. The ideal mentor is one who not only expects but demands of you to become greater than he.

Life is all about Choices we make in Life.

And Entrepreneurship is a journey which is the true replica of our lives. We decide our own game and play. The challenges we face in the course of this journey rather make us more formidable yodhas and strong leaders, which finally lead us to the path of abundant peace and prosperity. What we need to believe in is the God’s master plan and a firm self-belief in executing that plan.
